Fasting as Preparation

Fasting humbles us, increases focus, and makes us more accepting of God’s will.

Moses fasted 40 days preparing to receive the Law (Exodus 34:28). Daniel fasted 3 weeks before receiving his vision (Daniel 10:2-6). Elijah fasted 40 days before speaking with God (1 Kings 19:8). Jesus fasted 40 days preparing for temptation (Matthew 4:1-11Luke 4:1-13).
As a spiritual discipline, fasting increases faith, especially when accompanied by prayer. Fasting helps us devote ourselves to spiritual matters.

Fasting is not an end in itself – it gets us ready for what comes after.

this is one, small look at the topic of fasting – please, share your thoughts or experiences
